  Hot Stuff- Indian
25 mins from Exhibition by Taxi
When was the last time you had dinner, a massive meal for four, including starters and copious side orders, and paid £28.75? Not each, in total. Great cooking by the original mom and pop. Well, Hot Stuff is indeed all of these things although the interior is basic in the extreme. The food, from an extremely terse laminated menu, is very good in a rather slapdash, home-cooking style. They cook everything to order, they always adjust to customers' taste preferences and many customers leave the ordering to them. Chicken tikka karahi was ace, as was an unusually light king prawn biryani. Spiced okra and dhal were competently executed, and everything was served with a proud smile by the owners.

  Quilon- Indian
15 mins from Exhibition by Taxi
Quilon is about as swish as Indian restaurants get, it has the appearance of a sophisticated restaurant, you get the service you'd expect at a sophisticated restaurant , you get the quality of cooking you'd expect from a sophisticated restaurant. And unsurprisingly you get the size of bill you'd expect from such an establishment. The menu, billed as 'Coastal Food' showcases the splendid cuisine of Kerab-lots of fish and seafood. The food is very good indeed. Start with the Coorg chicken - chunky chicken with rich spicing and a hint of coorg vinegar. Or pepper shrimps - prawns fried in batter with plenty of chilli and a touch of aniseed. Moving on to the mains, seafood temptations include crab Calicut and prawns Byadgi -the latter are truly enormous prawns. These are all fairly spicy choices, but there is also gentler fare - plenty of chicken options and several duck dishes. All main courses come with a vegetable of the day, but the vegetable dishes themselves are worthy of note.
